Tokyo to the Japan Alps

The journey.

This is the Japan of contrasts, tuned so the loud parts and the quiet parts amplify each other. We begin in Tokyo and end in the mountains, and the journey between is the point.

The capital Tokyo edited to its calmest corners: an architecture walk at opening light, a whisky bar with four seats, a sushi counter where conversation is optional and excellence is not.

The Alps Then up and inward — the Kiso Valley's old post road walked hut to hut, snow monkeys in their steaming bath, a ryokan that holds its best room for you and serves a dinner you'll describe for years.

Japan is a frequency, and ten slow days is how long it takes to tune to it.
