Lake Como, unhurried: the private Italian lakes journey from India, costed

A private luxury Lake Como holiday from India typically costs ₹12.6 lakh to ₹25 lakh+ for two for five nights, flying Mumbai to Milan nonstop. Allow fifteen working days for the Schengen visa. May–June and September are the lake at its best — warm, luminous, and free of August's crowds.

What it costs.

Considered₹12.6L – ₹16L for two

Five nights in a lakefront hotel of real character, private transfer from Milan, a full-day private boat with a skipper who knows which villa gardens open when, and tables on the water booked before you land.

Elevated₹16L – ₹21L for two

The grand dames — Tremezzo-class — or a boutique villa hotel, a chef's table evening, a day designed around Bellagio and Varenna without the ferry queues, and a Milan bookend with the right kind of shopping escort or none at all.

The rarest₹21L+ for two

A private villa with staff, your own boat on call for the stay, a seaplane arrival on the lake if the weather smiles, and evenings that belong to you — a pianist, a private garden dinner, or beautiful nothing.

July and August price highest and feel busiest; May, June and September are the insider's months. A Como stay pairs naturally with Milan, Portofino or a Tuscany extension — the design conversation decides.

How the days unfold.

Day 1 · Mumbai → Milan → the lake

The nonstop lands mid-afternoon; a private car has you on the lake by aperitivo. Dinner on your hotel's terrace — the first ferry lights crossing the water do the welcoming.

Days 2–3 · The lake by boat

A private launch, unhurried: Villa del Balbianello's gardens, Bellagio before the day-trippers, lunch in Varenna, a swim off the boat where the water turns jade. The second day belongs to whichever shore seduced you on the first.

Day 4 · Villas, gardens, or nothing

Villa Carlotta's botanics, a cooking morning in a family kitchen, or the spa and a book. Como rewards the unscheduled day more than almost anywhere in Italy.

Day 5 · Milan, as a comma

The Last Supper with pre-booked entry, the Duomo rooftops, an espresso standing up like a local — then the evening flight home, or onward into Italy if the journey has grown.

Five nights suits Como alone; eight to ten builds the Italian Lakes properly or adds Tuscany. Honeymoons often run Como → Amalfi — two Italies in one journey.

The Schengen file, handled

Italy's visa runs through VFS with biometric appointments — allow fifteen working days once the file is complete, longer in wedding season. We prepare the itinerary, insurance and hotel documentation the application wants, so the appointment is the only thing you attend.

Hotel or villa?

Hotels give you the lake's theatre — terraces, service, arrival by boat. Villas give you privacy and staff of your own, and make sense from about a week's stay or for families. There is also the hybrid: villa-hotels with a dozen suites, which is often the answer.

Questions, answered

Asked before every journey.

How much does a luxury Lake Como trip from India cost?

For five nights for two: ₹12.6–16 lakh in a characterful lakefront hotel with a private boat day, ₹16–21 lakh at the grand dames, ₹21 lakh+ for a staffed private villa with a boat on call.

Do Indians need a visa for Italy?

Yes — a Schengen visa via VFS with biometrics. Allow fifteen working days from a complete file; we prepare the documentation so you attend only the appointment.

When is the best time to visit Lake Como?

May, June and September: warm water, open gardens, golden light and none of August's crush. April and October are quieter still, with a sweater in the evenings.

How do you get to Lake Como from India?

Nonstop Mumbai–Milan Malpensa, then a private car to the lake in about an hour. Delhi connects via European hubs almost as elegantly.

Is Lake Como good for honeymoons?

One of Europe's great honeymoon addresses — and it pairs beautifully with Amalfi or Tuscany for a two-act Italian journey. The lake does romance without trying, which is precisely why it works.
