The Maldives honeymoon, without the guesswork: costs, villas and how to choose
A luxury Maldives honeymoon from India typically costs ₹6.9 lakh to ₹18 lakh+ for two for five nights, depending on island, villa and season. Indians receive a visa on arrival; Malé is under three hours from Mumbai, and the right island — not the most advertised one — is what separates a good honeymoon from a great one.
What it costs.
Considered — ₹6.9L – ₹9.5L for two
Five nights in a genuinely refined resort — think overwater villa in shoulder season or a superb beach villa in peak — half-board, seaplane or speedboat transfers arranged, and the island matched to how you actually want to spend your days.
Elevated — ₹9.5L – ₹14L for two
The quieter northern atolls: a water villa with its own pool, a sandbank dinner no one else can book that beach for, snorkelling with mantas when the season obliges, and a resort where the house reef does not require a boat.
The rarest — ₹14L+ for two
The islands people don't post — private-residence scale villas, a dedicated host, diving or free-diving with the house instructor, and days where the only decision is which side of the villa faces the sunset.
Peak season (December–March) moves every band up; late April and September can buy an Elevated island at a Considered price. Transfers matter more than people expect — a seaplane window at golden hour is part of the honeymoon.
How the days unfold.
Day 1 · Mumbai → Malé → your island
The morning flight lands you in Malé by early afternoon; a seaplane threads the atolls while the light is still kind. Champagne on the villa deck before your luggage has quite caught up.
Days 2–3 · The island, at your pace
House-reef mornings, spa afternoons, a private cinema under the stars if the resort keeps one. We pre-book the treatments and tables that matter and leave everything else unplanned — deliberately.
Day 4 · The water, properly
A dhoni to a sandbank with a chef and no one else; mantas or turtles depending on season and atoll; a sunset dolphin cruise that earns its cliché.
Day 5 · Nothing, beautifully
The day with no plan is the one you'll remember. Late checkout and an evening seaplane mean the last day is a full one.
Five nights is the sweet spot; seven suits divers and the truly unhurried. One island, not two — island-hopping burns half a day each move and the Maldives rewards stillness.

How long are the transfers?
