The case for a day with nothing in it

Every itinerary we build has at least one day marked 'held open', and every client asks about it, and every client, afterwards, says it was the best day.

The held-open day is not laziness. It is where the journey metabolises: the morning you go back to the market because you can, the afternoon the ryokan's veranda defeats your book, the dinner you find instead of the one you planned.

Schedules are how we make sure a journey works. Space is how we make sure it matters.
