The short answer
Cherry blossom usually opens in Tokyo around 24 March and in Kyoto and Osaka a few days later, with full bloom about a week after. Aim for 25 March to 8 April 2027. Book hotels six months or more ahead, which means now, and expect a 30 to 40 percent premium: ₹12 lakh to ₹25 lakh or more for two for eight nights, land only.
The front moves north from Kyushu in mid-March to Hokkaido in late April or May. Full bloom comes roughly a week after the first flowers and lasts about a week, so a ten-day window covers two cities comfortably. Forecasts firm up from January; we hold rooms before then and shape the route as the forecast lands.

Delhi and Mumbai already have nonstops to Tokyo. From 2 February 2027, Air India flies Delhi to Osaka Kansai nonstop four times a week on a Boeing 787-8, leaving Delhi at 22:50 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and landing at 09:50 the next morning. That makes an open-jaw route easy: into Tokyo, home from Kansai, about 75 minutes from Kyoto.
Indians apply for Japan's single-entry tourist eVisa through the VFS Japan Visa Application Centres, for stays of up to 90 days. Apply as soon as your bookings are confirmed: the eVisa usually takes about ten working days, so allow four weeks in spring. Kyoto's best rooms for the blossom fortnight sell out six months or more ahead, so book by the end of the year at the latest.
